Edward
Charles Davies
With too many runs to count to his name, plenty of half centuries and a top score of 108 not out,
Ed is Henleaze Old Boys' all time leading run scorer. Having provided the stiff
backbone required to many a HOB innings, Davies has an excellent knowledge
of the game and a safe pair of hands to match. With deliveries so
relentlessly accurate you could have sworn you were watching five
replays of the first ball, his bowling at the death of a match is
vital to the Old Boys because if the batsman misses, he hits the timbers.
Strengths: - A
fine all rounder, has a knack of protecting his wicket (Dravid style)
Weaknesses: -
Much like Boycott, he likes to 'build' his innings which is something
20 over cricket doesn't give you time to do
Interesting fact:
- In a 50 over match, batting second, Ed achieved a league record
of scoring the lowest amount of runs for a player who has managed
to bat through the entire innings! Score……………9 not out! (Some would
say that's a good strike rate for him!)
