Having been drafted in at short notice to 'make up the numbers' during the 2011 season, Chris announced himself to the Old Boys by hitting a magnificent 61 not out in his first game for the club. Sadly, it looks like HOBs have since dragged him down to our level as he's been unable to get anywhere close to that performance since. As good as his batting performance was in his first game, his bowling was like nothing anyone had ever seen before, ball after ball after ball accurately lobbed into the air and landing about 4 foot away from him and on the next strip before being declared a 'no ball'. Because of this unusual style and action, Barley is unlikely to be asked to bowl again. A decent all round sportsman, (well PE teacher) Chris brings the average age of the Old Boys down and is reasonably spritely in the field.
Strengths: - Looked like a proper cricketer when first arriving on the scene and needs to believe he can recapture that form
Dodgy back, dodgy bowling
- Used to be walked to infants school by Jimmy Krankie (AKA Jon and Jo Smith's mum)
